This week, J and I decided to challenge ourselves to a new diet: 6 days vegan with 50% raw meals. It’s been surprisingly easy, and we’re both feeling totally cleansed. With our breakfast/lunch each day, we’ve been making our own juice out of tangerines- a Jeju specialty. I don’t think I’ll ever buy juice again!
Prep time: 2-3 minutes of blending
Ingredients:
- 4 or 5 tangerines
- 1 tsp fresh lemon juice
Method:
This recipe is fool-proof: just remove the skins from the tangerines, place in a blender or food processor with the lemon juice, and blend for 2 to 3 minutes, depending on the desired consistency. Enjoy!
Yields about 1 1/2 cups of juice

Raw Breakfast
Hi Leah,
I’m Lei. I live in Hawaii and am blessed to have an “organic” tangerine tree in the back yard. Every other day I have a fresh glass of it. Even after sharing with neighbors, I am able to make ice cubes out of them rather than see them go to waste. They are sweet, juicy and healthy.
I love your travel experiences. It’s so great to be able to share those wonderful stories & pictures. Very inspiring. Korean, Japanese and Chinese delicacies are common here, even Thai.
I am a mom & grandmom who loves playing tennis when I am not working or helping out at church.
There you have it….Be encouraged…and Keep up the good work!
Aloha, Lei
Lei, Thank you for your lovely message. Your life in Hawaii sounds happy, healthy, and wonderful. I’ve always wanted to visit Hawaii, but it hasn’t been in the (financial) cards as of yet. One day, I’d love to come and spend the days hiking and eating fresh fruit like you described. Thanks so much for encouragement! Best, Leah
